The School

Deira International School (DIS) is an Outstanding BSO- and KHDA-rated, award-winning school located on a beautiful campus in Festival City, Dubai. In the Early Years, our personalised, play-based continuous provision ensures students are rigorously assessed against the EYFS framework, developing strong foundations for future learning. In Primary, pupils benefit from a broad and enriching curriculum, including a range of non-core subjects. In Secondary, students complete IGCSEs in Year 11 before progressing to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

The Post: Economics Teacher

This is an exciting opportunity to join a premium, well-resourced school, to teach Economics and to join a thriving and popular Commerce department, which has been achieving outstanding results across IGCSE and IB programmes. The uptake for Economics has significantly increased in IGCSE and IB in the last 4 years and a popular option for students at both GCSE and IB level. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with a strong track record for attainment and progress to maintain our outstanding results and have a genuine enthusiasm for Economics. Experience in teaching IB or A-Level Economics is essential. You will have the ability to inspire and motivate students with a diverse range of talent and ability and take part or lead in our range of commerce extracurricular activities.

The successful applicant will be required to have the following:

• GCSE, IB or A-Level experience teaching Economics is essential.
• A B.Ed. or degree and PGCE / PGDE or equivalent with exceptional subject knowledge.
• A proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching impacting on exceptional student outcomes
• A mind-set which understands all students have the potential for top performance, and the drive and passion to enable them to do so.
• Experience which will enable a contribution to our enriched curriculum programme.
